The Sarnia Sting’s effort was there, but the result wasn’t.
After taking an early lead on a Beckham Edwards goal, the Sting were shut out for nearly 59 minutes Friday in a 3-1 loss to the Oshawa Generals before 3,480 at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
“Every guy in that dressing room can look in the mirror and say, ‘I left everything I had on the ice,’” Sting head coach Alan Letang said. “We just came up short tonight.”
Goalies Evan Maillet of Sarnia and Jaden Cholette of Oshawa traded highlight-reel saves in the third period before Brooks Rogowski scored the Generals’ power-play winner with 5:22 to go.
The Sting had their own power play soon after, but couldn’t draw even.
“The third period, we had 14 scoring chances,” Letang said. “We missed the net on a few, but he (Cholette) made som
