A $3.9 million initiative is proceeding four months ahead of schedule, according to Mohave County officials, and that could soon mean fewer county inmates who end up back behind bars.
The county’s “Reach Out” facility is now about 80% complete, with plans to use the jail-adjacent facility in Kingman as a reentry program for inmates who suffer from mental or substance abuse disorders. The new county program is modeled after a similar endeavor started by Yavapai County in 2018, where it resulted in a 30% reduction in recidivism rates. ×
