MCEWEN, Tenn. ( WSMV /Gray News) - Authorities in Tennessee say no survivors have been recovered after Friday morning’s devastating explosion at a manufacturing plant in Hickman County

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis fought back tears on Saturday morning as he and other officials delivered an update on the ongoing investigation.

On Friday, officials said 18 people were reported missing and that there were multiple fatalities.

Davis did not give a number on the people who have died, but he did say, “Anyone inside the building, we can assume they are deceased.”

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said a total of 18 local, state, and federal agencies were responding to investigate the fatal explosion.
