A man died in a crash that closed the A55 for several hours.

The incident, which occurred in the eastbound lanes at Halkyn in the early hours of Saturday morning, resulted in the major A-road being shut in the eastbound direction at the junction for Caerwys for about seven hours.

Police confirmed a man died in the single car collision. A spokesperson said: "At 00:47hrs North Wales Police received multiple reports of a single vehicle collision at junction 32 on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 involving a Ford Ranger pick-up.

"The emergency services attended, however sadly, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene."
