GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - At approximately 2:35 a.m. on Friday, a University Police Department officer responded to Shands Hospital in reference to an intoxicated person, who was making threats and using racial slurs.

Police say, 18-year-old Albert McDavid, of Gainesville, threatened to kill Shands security guards and used racial slurs in a drunken encounter.

Shands employees wanted McDavid gone and issued a trespass warning.

The responding officer asked McDavid to leave and McDavid refused, then directed his threats and slurs towards the officer.

McDavid continually refused to leave the hospital and continued to scream, according to Police.

The officer arrested McDavid, to whom he resisted, refused to get into the patrol vehicle and would not provide identification.
