Digging, setting and spiking for 24 hours straight might sound like a nightmare for some, but it’s one of the hundreds of unique fundraisers taking place in the lead-up to Telethon.
Ossie Indoor Beach Volleyball is hosting its inaugural 24-hour volleyball marathon this weekend to raise vital funds for some of WA’s most vulnerable children.
Owner Adam Burling said the “volleython” idea originally came about to boost the profile of the sport by hosting a social fundraiser event.
“When we started to reach out (to the community) with what cause to attach it to, Telethon was the thing that came to everyone’s minds,” he said.
More than 220 people registered, and presales for the custom jerseys made for the event quickly sold out.
