MAMMOTH CAVE, Ky. — Mammoth Cave National Park is only partially open, as the government shutdown has caused the park to cancel its guided tours.
Tourists such as Vi Walker said it's a bummer.
“I’m glad it’s partially open, but of course, we wanted to go on cave tours," Walker said.
Explore Kentucky’s Caveland , a group of five different Kentucky tourism departments from surrounding counties, has set up at the visitor center to help tourists during the shutdown.
“Some of them are saying that they’re stopping on a tour of national parks, and we're like, ‘How’re you going to do that? It’s going to be very difficult during the shutdown,'" said Sandra Wilson, executive director of Horse Cave/Hart County Tourism.
