The biggest question heading into Saturday's Red River Rivalry matchup between Oklahoma and Texas was whether star Sooners quarterback John Mateer would play 17 days after undergoing hand surgery. Now, we have our answer.

Mateer is set to play against the Longhorns at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas on Saturday. Mateer entered the week with a "questionable" tag on Oklahoma's availability report on Wednesday, but was upgraded to "probable" on Thursday. OU released its pregame availability report on Saturday, and Mateer did not carry a designation.

That means the signal-caller is set to make his return after missing just one game with a broken hand. Mateer has been a big part of Oklahoma's unbeaten start, as he has scored 11 touchdowns in four games, including five on the ground.

Now, the Sooners will have him back as they look to avenge last year's blowout loss to Texas in Red River.
