GRAND FORKS – With Grand Forks Public Schools facing a potential $4.4 million deficit for the 2025-2026 budget, a four-hour budget retreat meeting held for school officials and other leadership helped kickstart discussions about some of the next steps in offsetting that deficit.
The Friday meeting, the second of five scheduled retreats, included School Board members from both the main district and the Grand Forks Air Force Base district, principals from several of the elementary, middle and high schools and other district administrators.
District Business Manager Brandon Baumbach said the goal is to reduce the budget by at least 3.3%, if not slightly more, to bring it back into the black. He added, however, that the meetings will also try to address future budgets and that any realignmen
