(NewsNation) — Actress Diane Keaton, best known for her roles in "The First Wives Club" and "Annie Hall," has died, according to People.com.

Keaton was 79.

Keaton first rose to fame in the 1970s thanks to her role as Kay Adams in "The Godfather." She won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1977's "Annie Hall," one of many projects she did with director Woody Allen.

She has also starred in other films including "Something’s Gotta Give," the "Book Club" films among many others. Keaton also directed and produced several projects.

Born Diane Hall in 1946, she adopted her mother’s maiden name, Keaton, for her stage career.

A family spokesperson told the outlet that there are no additional details available about Keaton's death, and that her loved ones have asked for privacy.
