Tyson Ray Borsboom’s latest tour includes stops in both Kelowna and Penticton this October.

The Vancouver-based singer-songwriter delivers heartfelt storytelling through a mix of country, indie, folk, and alt-rock. Originally from Alberta, Borsboom honed his artistic style while living in Calgary during the 2010s.

His earliest musical influence? His mom singing Alan Jackson and Shania Twain during karaoke nights.

Still, Borsboom didn’t always love country music.

“I’ve never really liked the honky-style stuff,” he admitted. While pop-country still doesn’t appeal to him, artists like Colter Wall and Zach Bryan opened his eyes to the storytelling power of the genre.

He noticed country music began blending heavily with other styles after the COVID era -- and he started experimenting too.
