Supporters of a Rangers persuasion have poured onto social media to offer their reactions to the news that Steven Gerrard is no longer in the running to succeed Russell Martin. ‌

Chairman Andrew Cavenagh , right-hand man Paraag Marathe and other board members met with the Liverpool hero earlier this week to try and convince him to return to Ibrox for a second stint. ‌
