Dixie picked up its fifth straight win and remained unbeaten in region play with a 49-12 victory over Whitmire.

“I think our kids played better and better as the game went on,” Dixie coach Mark Sorrow said. After a season-opening loss to Fox Creek, his team has quietly improved to 6-1.

Brandon Nance put the Hornets on the board midway through the first quarter with a 50-yard touchdown run. Whitmire answered late in the period, but the Wolverines’ two-point conversion attempt failed.

Nance led Dixie’s offense, rushing eight times for 132 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
