PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation is preparing to add turn lanes and widen shoulders on State Route 187 on the Gila River Indian Community.

The project is expected to begin on Tuesday and will repave the 6-mile length of SR 187 between SR 87 and SR 387, east of Interstate 10.

Construction on the project is expected to take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

ADOT said that at times the roadway will be narrowed to a single lane of alternating traffic, and recommended motorists use SR 387 as an alternate route.
