BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Bismarck Rural employs 35 full and part-time firefighters . The goal is to have the new station fully staffed and operational every day, but with tight budgets that will take time.
The new building has a kitchen, exercise area and sleeping rooms.
The location will help cut down on response times.
“If we have those, you know, blizzards in the wintertime, or if we have dry conditions and have a really busy day, to where we can again kind of split the district in half. That allows us to take care of the citizens that we protect much better,” said Chief Dustin Theurer.
Theurer also thanks everyone involved who made the station a reality.
American Rescue Plan funds from the Burleigh County Commission and taxpayer dollars helped pay for the $3.2 million project.
