Down by three points, Missouri football opted to go for a fake punt from its own half of the field in the fourth quarter during a 27-24 loss to Alabama on Saturday in Columbia, Missouri.

Facing fourth-and-3 at the Mizzou 37 with a little more than seven minutes left on the game clock, the Tigers snapped the ball to running back Jamal Roberts in wildcat. Roberts rushed left and got close to the first-down marker, but the officials ruled him short.

After a lengthy review, the call was upheld, and the Crimson Tide offense took over.

Eight plays later — including two fourth-down conversions — the Crimson Tide found the end zone with a goal-line pass from quarterback Ty Simpson to running back Daniel Hill.
