WESTLAKE, Ohio – Officers at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 24 responded to a retirement community in the 2000 block of Dover Center Road for a reported suspicious person.

Staff reported that a woman was prowling around the independent living building at the facility, wearing medical scrubs, apparently to mix in with the staff. She entered several private residences, and if she found residents at home, she tried to cover her activities by saying that she was there to empty the garbage, according to a police department press release.

Officers checked the facility for the prowler but could not locate her. Two victims found that cash was missing from the drawers in their home. Officers began to investigate by gathering available surveillance video and license plate reader data.
