Syracuse, N.Y. — Interstate 81 north will be closed overnight this week between Exit 16A (Interstate 481 North) and the East Glen Avenue on-ramp in Syracuse, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The closure will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights Monday through Saturday while crews install bridge steel as part of the I-81 Viaduct Project, officials said.

A detour will direct traffic from Exit 16A to I-481 north, then to Exit 1 (Brighton Avenue/Rock Cut Road), west on Rock Cut Road, north on East Brighton Avenue, and west on East Glen Avenue to rejoin I-81 north.
