Diane Keaton was an Oscar-winning actress, rom-com icon, noted filmmaker and best-selling author. Importantly for her fellow lovers of canines, she was also a devoted dog mom.

Keaton, who died Oct. 11 at age 79, according to People and The New York Times, often posted pictures of herself and golden retriever Reggie on social media. Her last Instagram post, on April 11, was a National Pet Day message from Keaton and her pooch posing at home with organic biscuits from her Keaton Collection with the home goods company Hudson Grace.

"Proof our pets have great taste, too," reads the multi-photo post, featuring Keaton playing with Reggie, the dog resting on a comfy bed, and Reggie investigating a cast iron door stopper in her likeness.

Keaton introduced Reggie to her social following in October 2020 with a reel featuring photos and video of the pup eating grass and bouncing around the yard. "THIS IS MY NEW DOG, REGGIE!!! IS SHE HALF HORSE OR HALF DOG? MAYBE SHE’S INSANE! I LOVE HER!" Keaton wrote.

In February 2024, Keaton posted a fun video of her singing "God Bless America" while loving on Reggie. And in August 2023, the actress put together a slide show of Reggie's chewing shenanigans – set to the tune of Elvis Presley's "(You're the) Devil in Disguise" – and asking her fans to share their own with the hashtag #THEREGGIECHALLENGE.

Keaton's final post has also become a memorial wall for fans to post messages and remembrances.

"Thank you for your talent, your animal advocacy, your immeasurable charm. You will be missed," writes actress Bitsie Tulloch, adding that Keaton was "a true legend."

"Dearest Diane, I will miss your style, humor and grace. You are a true queen who paved the road for so many," reads a reply by musician Stevie Mackey.
