BOURNE, Mass. —

A motorcyclist was flown to a Boston hospital with severe injuries following a head-on crash on Cape Cod Saturday.

Bourne police say they received a call around 2 p.m. for a report of a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle in the area of 6 Head of the Bay Road.

Responding officers found the motorcyclist, a 22-year-old Taunton man, lying in the roadway with serious injuries, according to investigators.

He was transported to a Boston hospital via Medflight helicopter, where he's currently listed in critical condition.

The driver of the SUV, an 84-year-old Bourne man, remained at the scene and was uninjured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and it's unclear if any charges will be filed.

The roadway remains shut down.
