JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - TriPride made its way back to downtown Johnson City on Saturday in Founders Park.
The 'Roots Rainbows and Resilience, a Patchwork of Pride' festival began with a parade at 11 a.m. and followed with festivities and vendors at the park.
Trevor Arwood, a TriPride volunteer, spoke about the political climate, noting that several Pride festivals, including Knoxville's, have been cancelled. He said he feels safe to hold a festival in Johnson City.
"It's beautiful to be able to live somewhere where you do feel safe walking down the street where you do think, oh yeah, I can hold hands with my partner and it's okay," said Arwood. "You don't have to worry so much about hate. You don't have to worry so much about ignorance."
