KNOXVILLE, Tenn — A house fire on Friday afternoon caused significant smoke damage to a home in the 6300 block of Christian Springs Drive and left one dog dead, according to Rural Metro Fire.

Crews responded to the fire around 3:30 p.m. and arrived to find the fire contained to the room where it started. No one was home at the time of the incident.

Firefighters said the house suffered heavy smoke damage throughout. No injuries were reported, but one dog died in the fire.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
