TAYLORSVILLE — On Friday evening, the Taylorsville police department arrested a man with an active felony warrant.

At approximately 6:00 p.m. around Cowdell Street, detectives contacted a 51-year-old man that had a warrant out for his arrest for involvement in weapons and drugs, according to Lt. Jaren Fowler with the Taylorsville Police Department.

When the man refused to exit the house, a search warrant was obtained and a SWAT team was called out due to the man’s history of violence and firearms.

The man eventually did come out of the house, but was “less than compliant,” according to police. The SWAT team initiated non-lethal contact, at which the man immediately gave up and was taken into custody.

No one was harmed, and the SWAT team is clear of the scene.
