WASHINGTON, D.C. (KUMV) - Montana has a new U.S. Attorney following a narrow Senate vote this week.

The Senate confirmed Kurt Alme to the position on Tuesday with a vote of 51 to 47.

He previously served as U.S. Attorney for Montana during President Trump’s first term. Alme also had prior experience as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and First Assistant in the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy say Alme will crack down on drug trafficking in the state and protect indigenous communities.
