A woman has been charged with murder over the death of a man in a small town to the north of Broome, in Western Australia’s Kimberley region.

Police were called to Waterbank in the early hours of Friday morning on reports a 41-year-old man had sustained critical injuries.

He was taken to Broome Hospital but died a short time later.

A 41-year-old woman was initially helping police with their inquiries. Police said the two were known to each other.

On Sunday, a WA Police spokeswoman confirmed the woman had been charged with one count of murder.

She is set to appear before Perth Magistrates Court via video link.
