PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is warning the public about a flyer circulating in Portland that encourages people to shine lasers at helicopters, an illegal and potentially deadly act that has already disrupted medical transport operations.

The flyer, titled “ You’re Invited: Laser Tag! ” calls for people to point lasers at helicopters Saturday night, claiming it’s a form of protest against “federal regime spies.” It urges participants to “unleash your beam at the cop copter” at 9 p.m. and “take back the night together.”

OHSU officials said the flyer’s message poses a serious safety threat. As a precaution, several air ambulance vendors have suspended landings at OHSU’s waterfront helipad. Instead, helicopters are landing at other airports, and patient
