PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) - What a difference a few days can make. Last Saturday, tear gas was a constant, but this Saturday, protesters turned the area near the ICE Facility into a party.
“Sometimes there’s just like five of us, sometimes there’s 20, sometimes there’s a party,” said protester Joy Wilson.
With dozens of inflatable costumes, bubbles, music, and dancing, Wilson said protesters are focusing on what they can control.
“There’s been an uptick in the silliness and just the fun side of it, not that this is a fun thing we’re doing, but community is beautiful, and joy and standing up for your neighbors is beautiful, and showing that we are non-violent and there is nothing more non-violent than silly costumes.”
However, one counter-protester said she is not falling for it.
