HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Five people were hospitalized Saturday afternoon when a helicopter crashed in Huntington Beach, police say.

The Huntington Beach Police Department said two people were pulled from the helicopter and three people on the street were hurt. All five were taken to the hospital "for treatment." The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

The helicopter crashed near the Hyatt Regency Hotel on the beach around 2 p.m. PT. Video posted to social media shows the helicopter hovering over some palm trees, lift up then spin out of control and hit the building.

"The helicopter involved is associated with the Cars and Copters event scheduled for tomorrow," the police department said in a statement .
