GASTON, S.C. — Ten years ago, South Carolina was hit by one of the most devastating natural disasters in its history, the 1,000-year flood. Torrential rain caused record-breaking flooding and massive damage, forcing thousands to flee their homes.

But amid the chaos and fear, one family in St. Andrews found something extraordinary: a miracle born from the storm.

Kinsley Mishoe was born on Oct. 4, 2015, as floodwaters rose across the region. Her mother, Anna Toney, remembers the day vividly.
