Shadow attorney-general Julian Leeser has declared it was “completely wrong” for the Albanese government to take credit for the Israel-Hamas peace deal .
Israel and Hamas recently reached a deal for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release , ending the two-year-old war in the Palestinian enclave.
In the wake of the peace deal, Special Minister of State Don Farrell told Sky News the Albanese government had “certainly contributed” to the peace deal.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong also recently told Sky News that the government had helped provide the “momentum” to achieve a ceasefire.
These comments have sparked backlash from the opposition, which has condemned Labor's contributions to the Middle East.
