The Palestine Action Group has pressed ahead with a large-scale protest in Sydney and Perth, despite the recently brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

The demonstration will march from Hyde Park down George Street to Belmore Park, starting from 1pm on Sunday.

Shadow attorney-general Julian Leeser criticised the protest, arguing that it risks undermining progress already made in the Gaza Strip.

“You have to ask why these people are still protesting,” Mr Leeser told Sky News Sunday Agenda.

“Why they're not encouraging Palestinian actors to come to the table and ensure this peace process actually concludes.

“Because it's not just about the returning of the hostages, it's about ensuring the aid gets through, it is about ensuring an economic transition for Gaza.”
