DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - With high winds, waves, and erosion this weekend, some Outer Banks homes are on the brink of falling into the ocean.

Coastal flooding around the Outer Banks has been causing some issues over the last couple of weeks, with multiple homes falling in both Rodanthe and Buxton.

Ten homes between Buxton and Rodanthe have collapsed this year, in just a short amount of time.

Vacationers like Linda Goodman say they had seen signs of instability in Rodanthe’s “sky box” home over the years.

“We’ve watched them the last couple of years, and when the water gets under them and stays under them like that, it’s like ‘okay, it’s just a matter of time,”’ Goodman said.

Long-time vacationer Heather Goodrich says she’s also seen the area change and homes disappear into the ocean
