BOULDER, Colo. — Rocco Becht took a breath. His eyes blinked heavy. The Iowa State quarterback shifted in his seat. He bit his lip and cleared his throat. Mostly, though, he sat in silence.

Not because he didn’t have an answer to the question, but because he knew exactly what it was.

Here sat a young man whose whole life has been dedicated to football. He’s experienced the highs and lived through the lows. Here, though, after Colorado handed the No. 21 Cyclones a 24-17 loss, their second in as many weeks, Becht found himself dejected. On the verge of tears.
