South Carolina’s defense held on, forcing a field goal early to bring the lead to 3-0

After a solid drive, the Gamecocks missed a field goal, keeping the score 3-0 in the first.

After a long drive from LSU, South Carolina’s defense showed up once again. Markell Goodwine punched the ball from running back Ju’Juan Johnson at the goalline, giving the Gamecocks the ball at the 20.

On the very next drive, Matt Fuller burst through the line and took it 72 yards to the house for a South Carolina touchdown. The run was the longest play of the season so far for the Gamecocks.

The first quarter ended with South Carolina leading 7-3.
