GRAND FORKS — The UND football team used a fast start to knock off Youngstown State 35-17 on Saturday at the Alerus Center.

One of the game's key moments, which dashed Youngstown State's fading comeback hopes, came on fourth-and-1 from the YSU 6 with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter and UND hanging on to a 28-17 lead.
The Hawks set up to let C.J. Elrichs kick a 23-yard field goal. However, YSU's Jaden Gilbert jumped offsides on the play to extend UND's drive that led to Gaven Ziebarth's 1-yard touchdown run.
If Elrichs makes the kick, UND leads by 14 with 8:20 left. Instead, Ziebarth scored with 6:40 to go to make it an 18-point lead.
