CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As the government shutdown continues, local food pantries are starting to feel the impact. One Charlotte organization says the demand has already doubled.
“At our food pantry, we’ve seen people doubling coming in,” shared Janette Kinard, the Executive Director of Champion House of Care . “We’ve seen military families, their wives coming over to get food, people coming from the VA hospital to receive food. Some say they’re coming because they know something may be trickling down that’s not good, so they’re trying to have food ready to go so when things happen, they can feed their family."
