Calvin Duncan and incumbent Darren Lombard will face off after neither was able to secure more than 50 percent of the vote.

In recent weeks, the Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has challenged Calvin Duncan's exoneration in connection with a murder for which he was convicted in the 1980s.

After spending more than 20 years in prison, Duncan was allowed to plead to a lesser charge in 2011. Then, in 2021, the conviction was vacated completely.

Murrill claims that there are concerns over the vacated conviction.

This vacated conviction has been the center of attack ads and controversy surrounding the race.
