Emergency services were called a bit before 12pm on Saturday, October 11, to reports of a motorbike accident at Palmers Oaky - about 45 kilometres from Bathurst.

Initial reports were that the rider was unconscious.

The Sofala Community First Responder team arrived at the scene first, on Upper Turon Road, to find the patient had regained consciousness and was breathing and responsive.

Ambulance NSW paramedics arrived on-scene just after 12pm, and treated the man in his 50s for shoulder and elbow injuries.

He was then transported by Toll helicopter to Westmead Hospital.

The NSW SES Sofala Unit posted on Facebook, stating the helicopter was called "due to the remote and rugged terrain".
