(WAND) - For the first time in school history, the Teutopolis high school boys' golf team has won a state championship.

The Wooden Shoes competed at the IHSA Boys' golf state tournament in Bloomington, playing two rounds among some of the best competition in Illinois.

The team's best five players combined for a +47 performance, 11 shots better than the state runners-up in Fulton (+58). The Shoes were led by senior Coen Pennington who shot just 2-over par for the tournament, the second best among all competitors. He was accompanied by Isaac Weber (+11), Kade Pennington (+12), Mathew Habing (+22), and Owen Kremer (+29).
