UK motorists could face a hefty £1,000 fine if they neglect to inform the DVLA about a prevalent eye condition known as glaucoma. This eye condition can lead to significant symptoms when the nerve connecting the eye to the brain becomes damaged. ‌

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists has projected that the number of individuals in the UK living with glaucoma is set to rise by a third between 2020 and 2035. Although the disease is uncommon in those under 40, it's worth noting that one in 10 people aged 75 and over are affected by glaucoma. ‌
