The trip: The Blattners sailed on a Viking cruise from Ushuaia, Argentina, to Antarctica where they walked among penguins on the continent, took a submarine to the depths of the southern ocean, and kayaked among the ice.

Travel tip: “If visiting Antarctica, be sure to pack a waterproof case for your cell phone or camera and purchase touchscreen winter thermal gloves so that you don’t have to expose your hands to the frigid temperatures when capturing the scenic beauty surrounding you in the polar region.”
