Confusion over COVID boosters may be responsible for landing some people in the hospital as California sees an early surge in the illness.

According to the state's Public Health Department, hospitalizations were up last month, deaths doubled and the level of the virus in wastewater was "very high."

As a growing number of people are experiencing more serious bouts of COVID, health experts blame vaccine confusion.
