Railway police in South Tripura arrested a 50-year-old Pakistani woman at Sabroom railway station after she allegedly escaped from prison in Nepal, where she had been serving a sentence for drug trafficking.

The woman was detained on Friday upon arrival by the Kanchenjunga Express from Kolkata after police found her behaviour suspicious. Initially identifying herself as Saheena Parveen from Purani Basti in Delhi, she was unable to provide valid identification. A search of her belongings revealed several contact numbers linked to Pakistan.

During questioning, she claimed to be a Pakistani citizen from Punjab who had illegally entered India via West Bengal three years ago after crossing into Bangladesh, and had been working as a domestic help in Delhi. She said she was trying to return to
