The 2025 Midwest Crossword Tournament has come and gone, and by all accounts, it was a smashing success. I had a great time with the puzzle family in Chicago last weekend, this time without the stress of being a competitor since I wrote one of the tournament puzzles, which you can order here. As I joked during the tournament, the sound of an entire room of people turning over their papers to solve your puzzle is still the best sound that a crossword constructor can hear. The only downside I experienced during the festivities was the Cubs getting trounced in Game 1 of their series against the Brewers, but being around puzzle friends helped make up for that in a big way.
