ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Gamers from around the area gathered in Rockford to celebrate all things video games at the Rock River Video Game Convention held at Cliffbreakers.

The convention featured consoles and arcade machines from all eras available for free play, a VR room for virtual reality gaming, and demos of unreleased games.

Scott Clark, co-creator of the convention, expressed his hope that the event can break the negative stigma around gaming culture and bring together generations of gamers.

Clark noted that the convention goes beyond gaming culture and into nerd culture, embracing interests like anime, Pokemon cards, and cosplay.
