A powerful coastal storm is expected to hit Staten Island with strong winds and significant rainfall Sunday through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents in the region should prepare for potentially damaging winds up to 45 mph, and the strongest winds are expected Sunday evening into early Monday morning.
Steady rain is not expected on Staten Island until around 7 p.m. , and the wet conditions are likely to remain all day Monday.
Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday, according to forecasts.
The extended forecast indicates dry conditions will return by Wednesday, with temperatures trending slightly below normal through Friday. By next weekend, weather patterns are expected to return to more typical autumn conditions.
