• Loveland Mayor Cecil Gutierrez walked away from a meeting with railroad officials looking for a positive takeaway surrounding the issue of loud train horns after Loveland and Fort Collins officials learned that a federal rule-making process that was supposed to be opened a year earlier was still in question. “It felt good that we got a commitment from BNSF to have a discussion about whether they would support reopening the rule,” Gutierrez said. “They’ve never said that before.” The meeting was organized by U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, who was making efforts to solve the issue after hearing complaints during his tenure in office.
