Drew Allar's 2025 season came to an unfortunate end in Penn State's loss to Northwestern on Saturday. The quarterback suffered a season-ending injury that forced him from the game in the fourth quarter.
The injury is a huge blow to Allar's already fledgling NFL draft stock.
The exact nature and extent of Allar's injury isn't yet known, but it puts an end to a star-crossed season and career for the Nittany Lions signal caller. He's had moments where his strong arm, impressive short-area movement skills and leadership have merited first-round consideration. Those moments were interspersed, and often overshadowed, by several poor choices and a decided lack of anticipatory throws from Allar.
Allar's preseason draft stock was in the first round largely on the potential that his game would grow in 2025. Unfortunately, his game didn't show a lot of progress in the areas where Allar needed to get better in the eyes of the NFL. Adding in a season-ending injury and stunting the growth curve is not going to help Allar. If he can't work out in the pre-draft process or the NFL Scouting Combine, Allar's draft book is written already. That book reads like a middle-round dice roll on some unrealized physical potential.
