The Kavoor police have arrested three persons for cheating a cooperative society by pledging imitation gold ornaments and securing a loan of ₹6.24 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Harif Abubakkar (39) of Aakash Bhavan, Mohammed Ashiq Kattathar Hussain (34) of Nanthoor Bikarnakatte, and Abdul Rameez (33) of Belandur village, Puttur taluk.

Police said Harif pledged the fake ornaments at a Multipurpose Cooperative Society in Kavoor on October 9, which sanctioned the loan believing them to be genuine. Acting on a complaint, police registered a case under Sections 316(2), 318(4) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
