A pedestrian was hit and killed Oct. 11 on Country Club Drive, the Fayetteville Police Department said in a news release.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Country Club Drive at 8:11 p.m. Saturday in reference to a pedestrian being struck, the release said. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the person dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation showed the pedestrian stepped into oncoming traffic and was struck by a driver, who remained on the scene until police arrived, the release said.

The victim's name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
